Deep within the Universitas Terbuka stands a building. It is called Gedung Prof. Setijadi. Have you ever wondered about the stories held within its walls?
Gedung Prof. Setijadi is more than just a building. It is a hub of academic activity. It is a place where important decisions are made. It plays a vital role in the university’s mission.
Let’s turn back time to October 16, 2023. The air crackled with anticipation in the Ruang Sidang Sinabung on the second floor of Gedung Prof. Setijadi. Important figures from Universitas Terbuka, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and the Faculty of Law, Social, and Political Sciences (FHISIP) gathered. They were awaiting an online visit. This visit was from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) from Germany.
The university sought international accreditation for four study programs. These programs were S1 Management, S1 Accounting, and S1 Economics Development from FEB. Also the S1 Law from FHISIP. The FIBAA team consisted of seven experts. They connected online to review the programs.
Rektor UT Ojat Darojat officially received the visitation. He presented a profile of UT. Next, Dean of FEB Dr. Mairani Harsasi presented the profile of the study programs. They discussed the development of education at UT. They talked about UT’s development strategy for the future. Internationalization efforts were also discussed.
Ojat Darojat explained that UT had prepared courses for international students. These were available through the Indonesia Cyber Education (ICE) Institute. They also planned student exchanges abroad through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA) program.
Following the presentations, focus group discussions took place. These involved program management, lecturers and tutors, students and alumni. Also, UT support units were present. The online visit concluded with feedback from the assessment panel. They gave their impressions of the visit to the program management.
But Gedung Prof. Setijadi’s story goes back further. In 1989, Universitas Terbuka celebrated a milestone. It held its first graduation ceremony. The event took place at the Jakarta Convention Center. It was a modest affair with around three thousand attendees. Among them were 1,423 graduating students. Rektor UT Prof. Dr. Setijadi expressed his pride. He said it was a joyous day.
Fast forward to October 17, 2024. Gedung Prof. Setijadi hosted another significant event. Universitas Terbuka underwent an external audit. This audit was for the ISO 27001:2022 certification. It focused on information security management systems. The BSI Group conducted the audit.
Wakil Rektor Prof. Dr. Paken Pandiangan emphasized the importance of maintaining international standards. He stressed that information systems are crucial. They are the backbone of UT’s business processes and services. The audit involved observations. The first day focused on the organization’s context at the leadership level. Later the audit moved to each sub-directorate within the Information Systems Directorate. The second day included facility and data center checks at UT.
Gedung Prof. Setijadi stands as a symbol. It represents Universitas Terbuka’s commitment to quality and progress. From graduation ceremonies to international accreditations and quality audits, its walls have witnessed important moments in the university’s journey.
