Built on the estate Kofoedsminde Paul Bergsøe Kollegiet stands proudly. This isn’t just a dormitory. It’s a piece of history. Paul Bergsøe a Danish industrialist and engineer built his residence here from 1916 until his death in 1963. He dedicated his life to enriching the land around Kofoedsminde collaborating with others to plant and preserve the surrounding areas.
The kollegiet itself a testament to modern architecture was constructed between 1966 and 1967. It’s a self-governing institution operating under the Danish regulations for publicly funded youth housing. The design is striking. Sixteen two-story blocks house 352 single rooms 31 double rooms and 32 shared kitchens. Each room has a private bathroom.
