Here stands the Chicago Tabernacle, a beacon of faith. In 2002, Pastors Al and Chrissy Toledo moved from New York City. They felt God calling them to Chicago. The Tabernacle Church of Perfect Love was born from this calling.
The church started with a small group. They met in the basement of an old church. Space was limited. More room was needed to grow. The church prayed for a miracle. They needed a building a down payment and a mortgage.
In seven days God answered their prayers. This event is known as “The 7 Day Miracle”. They secured a down payment a new facility and a mortgage. In May 2002 Chicago Tabernacle moved to 4201 N Troy.
In 2003 the church launched “The Story of Love”. This dramatic presentation portrayed God’s love. It fostered service and deepened relationships. The community expanded.
By 2005 the church had grown. Sunday services moved to John B Murphy Elementary School. Chicago Tabernacle became a “moving tent”. Service became a defined value.
Summer 2007 marked a change for Vacation Bible School. It became “Kids Week of Adventure” or KWA. KWA engaged inner-city children. Artists actors and musicians used their gifts. Chicago Tabernacle became a home for the arts community.
By fall 2007 many people were impacted. The church defined its mission. Inspired by John 1:12 Chicago Tabernacle became a “place of becoming”. People could pursue God love with His heart and serve others.
In 2010 Chicago Tabernacle held multiple services at the Troy building. They remodeled the lower level for children. CT’s Playhouse was created. Children had their own worship services.
As the church grew the “6:10 Project” began in 2013. This was inspired by Matthew 6:10. The church needed a larger space. They wanted to raise the next generation preach through the arts and build around God’s Word.
In March 2015 Chicago Tabernacle moved to 3231 N Cicero. The church experienced growth. Hundreds came to know the Lord. Prayers were fulfilled.
Pastors Al and Chrissy Toledo lead the church. They have served for nearly 30 years. They planted Chicago Tabernacle in 2002. They have witnessed many testimonies.
Pastor Tim and his wife Esther also serve. Pastor Tim was led to the Lord by his Chemistry teacher. Esther surrendered her life to Christ during law school.
Pastor Edgar Rivas grew up on Chicago’s west side. He dedicated his heart to Christ in 2009. He gave up his federal service career for ministry.
Pastor David and his wife Susie also serve. Pastor David felt a call to ministry in high school. Susie felt a call to ministry at a young age.
Pastor Jose Figueroa dedicated his life to Christ in 1999. He inspires others to love Jesus. He and his wife Darcy met at Chicago Tabernacle.
Pastor Josh grew up in the home of a pastor. He and his wife Susie lead the Philadelphia Tabernacle. They are passionate about seeing people grow.
Pastor Jake Sparlin encountered God through “The Story of Love”. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He serves as Associate Pastor.
Pastor Jovan surrendered his heart to the Lord at 14. He and his wife Amy joined Chicago Tabernacle in 2021.
Pastor Vince has been in ministry for nearly three decades. He and his wife LaTonia oversee Becoming Groups.
Through dedicated leadership and a focus on community Chicago Tabernacle continues to be a place of becoming. It welcomes all who seek to know and serve the Lord. The Tabernacle Church of Perfect Love remains committed to loving God loving people and changing the world.
