“Where do I go to voice my opinion?” That’s a question often asked and at Lake Forest Park City Hall, those voices find a home. Let’s step closer to Lake Forest Park City Hall. It is more than just a building. It is the heart of this city’s government.
Originally the city officials shared space with the Police Department in the first Town Hall. It broke ground on August 1 1963. This original Town Hall was at the west end of the Town Center parking lot.
As Lake Forest Park grew in the mid-1990s, the staff needed more space. An old school in the Horizon View neighborhood became the Interim City Hall. The location wasn’t ideal. It was hard to reach and only a temporary fix.
In 2000, Lake Forest Park purchased a new site. It was in the northeast corner of the Town Center. The site had formerly been a restaurant. The location was perfect. It was in the heart of Lake Forest Park’s business district. Public transportation offered easy access.
The official dedication of the newest Lake Forest Park City Hall was on March 23 2002. Mayor David R. Hutchinson invited students from Brookside Elementary School to prepare a time capsule. The Lake Forest Park proclamation stated the capsule should be opened 25 years later. That’s March 23 2027. What secrets does it hold? We will have to wait and see.
Today, Lake Forest Park City Hall provides essential services. Residents visit with questions about city services. They can apply for passports and get passport photos here. A domestic violence advocate offers legal help.
The city is led by a mayor and seven council members. They are elected to four-year terms. Information on building permits, land use, and zoning is available. Home business licenses are also handled here.
Lake Forest Park City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Passport services have specific hours. Those are Monday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..
You can find Lake Forest Park City Hall at 17425 Ballinger Way Northeast. From I-5, take exit 177 to Ballinger Way NE. Turn east. At NE 175th St, turn right. Proceed into Lake Forest Park Towne Centre’s parking lot. Go to the lower level, turn left. You’ll see Lake Forest Park City Hall at the east end.
