The Catena del Baldo is also called the “Garden of Europe”, a testament to its incredible biodiversity. Wander through its varied landscapes and you’ll encounter everything from Mediterranean flora to alpine meadows. Look closely and you might spot the endemic anemone, the delicate orchid, or the rare slipper orchid. But the Catena del Baldo hides more than just botanical treasures. Legends whisper of ancient trade routes crossing these very mountains, connecting the plains to the heart of the Alps. Some even believe that Ötzi the Iceman, whose journey ended tragically in a distant glacier, may have walked the Catena del Baldo on his final journey.
