Let’s turn our focus to the East Side Community Church, born in 2018, one of the newer additions to the Dallas religious scene. Scofield Memorial Church, the other part of the East Side Church of God in Christ story, began its journey much earlier, way back in 1877, one of the initial twelve churches planted in Dallas. The two churches coming together in 2022 was a landmark moment in the city’s Christian history. Their merging created a powerful community, combining the legacies of two faith communities, and forming a new chapter in the story of East Side Church of God in Christ. From a small church plant to enduring a tornado, a fire, and a global pandemic, this church has weathered numerous storms.
