Imagine stepping into a world where Indonesian law enforcement history comes alive. That world is the Museum Polri. It is also known as the Indonesian National Police Museum. Here, the long journey of the National Police force unfolds before your eyes. This force has served as protector of the Indonesian people.

The Museum Polri is located in Kebayoran Baru in South Jakarta. It is a 9.5 km drive south of the Monas. The museum is an 11 km ride north of Ragunan Zoo.

What makes this museum even more appealing? Admission is absolutely free. You only need to sign your name before entering.

As you approach the Museum Polri, notice the old tank and helicopter outside. Feel free to capture some photos before entering.

Inside the Museum Polri, the ground floor showcases photographs. These displays recount important events in the history of the Indonesian police force. Admire the old motorcycles and bicycles once used by officers.

Don’t miss the weapon room. It features a large selection of machine guns and rifles. This impressive collection of artillery is something to examine.

As you ascend to the second floor, you will see the Hall of Fame. It is a picture tribute to top-ranking police officers in Indonesian history.

The upper floors of the Museum Polri reveal more archives and gadgets. They were used by the police force. Medals and police uniforms are on display. A robotic device used to detonate bombs is also exhibited.

The Museum Polri also acknowledges past tragedies. The exhibit dedicated to terrorist bombings in Indonesia is a must-see. Fragments from the Bali bombings are displayed. Media reports provide context to the attacks. They explain why they occurred. They also detail how authorities caught those responsible. Note that photos are not allowed in this area. This is out of respect for the victims. It also prevents the sharing of misleading information.

For families visiting the Museum Polri, there is a dedicated play area for children. This allows children to dress up in a National Police uniform.

Many tourists don’t know the Museum Polri exists. It is an added bonus if you are shopping in Blok M.

The museum is well-maintained, clean, and newer than many museums that charge admission. This is because the museum is located in the police headquarters of Jakarta.

Make sure to explore the weapon room on the ground floor. Also, visit the Bali bomb exhibit upstairs. Both are very interesting and worth your time.

The Museum Polri offers a unique look into the world of law enforcement in Indonesia. It is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in the country’s police history. From historical artifacts to interactive exhibits, the museum has something for everyone. It showcases the dedication and sacrifices made by the Indonesian National Police.
