The Giant Panda Forest opened in 2012. A soft opening came in 2013. It officially opened in 2014. It quickly became a must-see attraction. Millions of visitors have marvelled at its inhabitants. Kai Kai and Jia Jia a male and female panda pair arrived in 2012. They were on a ten-year loan from China. They symbolize the friendly relationship between China and Singapore. A significant conservation donation from CapitaLand helped make this exhibit possible.
Their names were chosen by the public. The pandas became superstars. In 2021 a major event happened. Jia Jia gave birth to Le Le. This was a huge moment. It was the first panda cub born in Singapore. Le Le’s arrival delighted everyone. His early development was closely monitored. He gained weight rapidly. He even got teeth faster than expected. This meant he could start eating bamboo sooner. Le Le’s first steps were a memorable milestone. He eventually moved into his own nursery.
Later Le Le joined Jia Jia in the main exhibit. The public loved him. Sadly in 2023 Le Le returned to China. He completed his journey via a Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400F freighter aircraft. His time in the Giant Panda Forest created many unforgettable memories. The Giant Panda Forest continues to be a beacon. It showcases the beauty of these amazing creatures.
