Imagine a humble langgar. It was a simple prayer house owned by Guru Jaisan. This small space evolved into the magnificent Masjid Jami Al-Nurul we see today.
Welcome to Masjid Jami Al-Nurul. It is a place of faith and history. The story of this mosque reflects the spirit of Jakarta. It began as a langgar. This was more than just a place for prayer. It was also a center for education. Children and adults learned here. In pre-independence Indonesia, it even served as a defense base.
In 1952, the langgar became a mosque. It stood on land donated for religious purposes. This land measured 400 square meters. The name Masjid Jami Al-Nurul came later in the 1960s. Ustaz Achmad Nairan gave it this name.
The mosque underwent renovations in 1971. Major changes happened again in 1984. This marked the start of building the modern Masjid Jami Al-Nurul. Both Soedargo and Taufik, local architects, designed it. They created a modern mosque. The renovations took two years. On December 13, 1986, Minister Sudharmono inaugurated the new mosque.
Soon, Masjid Jami Al-Nurul will expand. A new two-story building is under construction. It is on the north side of the main building. This addition will accommodate 300 more worshippers. The community is actively raising funds for this expansion.
Masjid Jami Al-Nurul stands as a symbol of community. It embodies faith and growth. From a small langgar to a significant mosque, it has a rich history. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of Jakarta’s people.
