In 1978 amidst a turbulent society Dayspring Fellowship was born. It began as a small Bible study in the home of Jackson and Barbara Boyett. This wasn’t just any Bible study. It was a refuge a haven for those seeking genuine spiritual awakening.

Dayspring Chapel wasn’t initially a chapel at all. It started as a response to the changing times. The 1960s counter-culture movement had shaken societal norms. Drugs were prevalent. Traditional institutions were struggling. Many churches were losing members. Some modernized their services to attract a new generation. The true gospel message was being overshadowed.

The Boyett’s Bible study filled a void. Jackson Boyett was a gifted teacher dedicated to biblical truth. The group quickly grew. It included people from diverse backgrounds: Catholics hippies even those recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. There was immediate bonding. Members loved the Lord loved His word and were eager for genuine faith.

Dayspring Chapel’s name was inspired by Malachi’s prophecy “the sun of righteousness shall rise (a true dayspring) with healing in its wings”. The church followed the model of Acts 2:42 focusing on doctrine fellowship communion and prayer. They held to the Reformation’s principles and Baptist practices. They believed in salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone.

The first official service was held in September 1978. Nearly 100 people attended Jackson Boyett preached his first sermon. Communion was served. A true sense of kinship was felt. Dayspring Chapel was officially established.

Today Dayspring Chapel remains a vibrant community. It’s an independent church guided by elders. People from various backgrounds come together. The chapel continues its commitment to prayer biblical teaching and fellowship. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith community and the transformative impact of the gospel. Its story is a reminder that even amidst societal chaos genuine spiritual growth can flourish. The legacy of Dayspring Chapel continues to inspire and uplift those who seek a deeper connection with God and with one another.
