St Mary’s Catholic Junior School provides education for children aged 7 to 11. The school’s leaders understand the school and its diverse community. They have designed a structured curriculum that meets pupils’ needs. St Mary’s Catholic Junior School is ambitious for all its pupils.
The school has achieved the STARS Bronze level Kite Mark and Music Mark. This shows a commitment to a broad education. St Mary’s is also part of the Food For Life Initiative.
Many children in KS2 learn to play a musical instrument. All children from age 4 to age 11 swim weekly. This takes place in the on-site swimming pool.
In 2020, Ofsted rated St Mary’s Catholic Junior School as good. Behaviour and attitudes were outstanding. Personal development was also outstanding. Leadership and management were good. The quality of education was good too.
In 2024, St Mary’s Catholic Junior School achieved high KS2 SAT results. 77% of pupils achieved the expected standard for reading. 85% achieved the expected standard for writing. 87% achieved the expected standard for grammar punctuation and spelling. 85% achieved the expected standard for mathematics.
For greater depth 38% of pupils achieved it in reading. 65% achieved greater depth in grammar punctuation and spelling. 40% of pupils achieved greater depth in mathematics.
St Mary’s Catholic Junior School is part of the St Mary’s Catholic Primary Schools Trust. It works alongside the Infant School to provide continuous education. The school’s start time is 9:00 am and finishes at 3:30 pm.
