“Gotong royong,” a phrase embodying mutual assistance, echoes in the story of Masjid Jami’ Ar-Raudhah. Inaugurated on September 6, 2024, this mosque stands proudly on Jalan TB Simatupang in Ragunan. Heru Budi Hartono, the Governor of Jakarta at the time, officially opened its doors.
The governor entrusted the mosque’s care to the Mayor of South Jakarta. He urged residents and merchants alike to maintain the cleanliness of this place of worship. This reflects the collaborative spirit behind its creation.
Arief Nasrudin, the Director of PAM Jaya, highlighted the mosque’s capacity. It can accommodate 200 worshippers across its two floors. The 6,000 square meter area includes a canteen and space for UMKM vendors selling plants.
Masjid Jami’ Ar-Raudhah is more than just a place for prayer. It serves as an economic hub, integrating local businesses. Buyers of ornamental plants can transact comfortably in designated areas. This blend of commerce and faith is quite unique.
Accessibility is a key feature. The mosque is integrated with public transportation. A Transjakarta bus stop, Simpang Ragunan Ar-Raudhah, is conveniently located nearby. There are two entrances, one on Jalan Ragunan and another on Jalan TB Simatupang. Ample parking is also available.
The construction of Masjid Jami’ Ar-Raudhah reflects a communal effort. It was financed by the community and local officials. No regional government budget was used. This exemplifies the spirit of “gotong royong” and unity among Jakarta’s citizens.
The mosque stands on land owned by the Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Kelautan, and Perikanan DKI Jakarta. Governor Heru Budi Hartono initiated the development of this area. He laid the first stone in early March 2024.
Jakarta Experience Board was also present at the inauguration. They are one of the BUMD DKI Jakarta that supported this initiative. The JXB hopes the mosque will become a spiritual center. It should bring blessings to the local community. It should be an oasis of peace in Jakarta.
Located near a hospital and a campsite, Masjid Jami’ Ar-Raudhah is easily accessible. It is hoped that the Masjid Jami’ Ar-Raudhah will not only be a place of worship. But also a symbol of harmony and peace. A place where the community can come together.
