Since 2014, the Centro Educativo Comunitario Casabó has focused on inclusive education. It addresses the training needs of adolescents aged 12 to 17. These students have finished primary education. Some may or may not be in secondary education. The center recognizes projects of students with creative and educational value.

The Centro Educativo Comunitario Casabó, or CEC Casabó, is part of UTU’s basic secondary education program. It works with students aged 12 to 17. These students have completed primary school. It also helps teenagers who have repeated or dropped out of secondary education.

The center offers courses in three areas. These include audiovisual, informatics and robotics. Registrations are open to young people aged 14 and over. They must have completed primary education. The courses take place at Juan Acosta 4600. This is at the corner of Cno. Corrales.

Each student at Centro Educativo Comunitario Casabó takes five project-based subjects. These projects address problems students bring. Teachers and students work together. This creates close relationships. It fosters social skills. Respect, solidarity, commitment and participation are taught.

The Centro Educativo Comunitario Casabó operates in morning and afternoon shifts. Each shift accommodates 60 students. They attend workshops in audiovisuals, robotics and informatics. They also study subjects like language, sports, recreation and philosophy. Mathematics is also on the curriculum.

The project is developed through workshops. These workshops cover informatics, audiovisuals and robotics. Transversal areas complete the beneficiaries’ integral formation. These include mathematics, language, philosophy and sport.

The specializations that are studied are all in high demand in the labor market. This transforms these establishments into leaders in social and labor insertion. The courses are organized around three cycles. These cycles comprise of adaptation and expectation; progress of the process and delimitation of educational continuity; and accompaniment and monitoring of educational continuity.

At the end of each cycle, teenagers receive a certification of achievement. They can continue training at the CEC for a maximum of 18 months. After completing the training, graduates receive accreditation. This corresponds to the first year of basic cycle.

The aim is to create environments that provide opportunities for development. It also encourages educational continuity, social integration and coexistence. The Centro Educativo Comunitario Casabó promotes creativity and critical thinking.
