Pastor Wendell Smith, his wife Gini, their children, and a dedicated group of families planted this church. It grew from an outreach of Bible Temple in Portland, Oregon, now City Bible Church. Pastor Wendell, a Northwest Nazarene College graduate, had a powerful vision. He saw the City Church of Seattle touching lives in the community and beyond. His “DragonSlayer” youth seminars, popular from 1986 to 1992, preceded his work at the City Church of Seattle. The church’s story is intertwined with the Smiths’ twenty years of service at Bible Temple. Their experience as youth pastors and international ministers shaped their approach at the City Church of Seattle. The City Church of Seattle isn’t just one building or one story.
