Founded in 1935, it stands as a testament to the vision of one woman, Alfa Tofft. Returning from Montreal, where she studied languages and played badminton, Tofft saw a void in Aarhus. A void that could only be filled with the rhythmic swoosh of shuttlecocks and the sharp crack of rackets. Aarhus Badminton Klub was not just a club; it was a dream woven into reality. Tofft used her inheritance to build the Aarhus Badmintonhal on Dyrehavevej. She enlisted architect C.F. Møller to design this dedicated badminton haven. The hall, built on the site of former allotments near Dyrehavevej, stands as a testament to Tofft’s passion. This made Aarhus Badminton Klub the first dedicated badminton club in Jutland. Tofft’s vision extended beyond just bricks and mortar. She aimed to establish a badminton culture in Aarhus and beyond. In 2010, Aarhus Badminton Klub reaffirmed its commitment to excellence. They appointed former top player Morten Frost as sports director. This move, aimed at reaching the pinnacle of Danish badminton, bore fruit quickly. The following year, AB ascended to the Badmintonligaen, the top tier of Danish badminton, where they have remained ever since. The legacy of Alfa Tofft continues to resonate within these walls, a legacy of passion, dedication, and the enduring love of badminton.
