Pakenham Secondary College

It’s a sprawling campus – a testament to the dedication of the Pakenham community. This is Pakenham Secondary College, a place that has evolved along with the town itself. Founded back in 1967, in those early days, Pakenham was a quaint country town. The College was originally called Pakenham High School. Back then, only 600 students were enrolled. The school found its current location in 1970. In a twist of fate, the site was opened by none other than the state education minister of the time, Lindsay Thompson. This school has seen a lot of change over the years, reflecting the growth of Pakenham. It wasn’t long before expansions were needed to accommodate the increasing population of the then Shire of Berwick. Five more classrooms were added in 1972. Even more buildings were added in 2001 as part of a six-stage building program. The program cost a whopping $12 million and modernized the College. Today, Pakenham Secondary College is considered a totally modern school, supporting every student on their learning journey. Pakenham Secondary College prides itself on providing a supportive environment for all students. The school has a dedicated student body and boasts a range of opportunities. There is a dynamic teaching group who are dedicated to their students’ success. The College values are represented in the acronym SOAR, which is inspired by the eagle in the school’s logo. It stands for Social and personal responsibility, Opportunities for all, Achieving personal best, and Respect and relationships. These guiding principles are embraced by the entire school. All members of the school community, from teachers to students, help create a dynamic and thriving environment where everyone feels respected.
