Glen Eden Baptist Church stands as a multigenerational multicultural community focused church in the heart of West Auckland.
The church is warm and welcoming. It provides a friendly environment for everyone. People at all stages of their spiritual journey feel encouraged and challenged here. Glen Eden Baptist Church is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus.
Glen Eden Baptist Church has a clear vision. They find hope in Christ. They are transformed by Christ. They are empowered through Christ to change the world. This vision shapes everything they do. It centers on four core values.
First is being Kingdom oriented. The gospel has power. It is the power of God. The Kingdom of God grows gradually. Glen Eden Baptist Church partners with Christ. They want to see His Kingdom come.
Second is being intentionally missional. Glen Eden Baptist Church recognizes God’s heart for mission. They seek that all people come to faith and grow in Christ. This includes the young the old and people from all cultures. The church supports the Treaty of Waitangi.
Third is being intergenerational. The church believes in a loving community. This includes people of all ages. They intentionally love others. They make everyone feel welcome. All people are made in God’s image. They are of equal value.
Fourth is being actively charismatic. Glen Eden Baptist Church pursues the presence of the Holy Spirit. They uphold the Bible as the inspired Word of God. It is the final authority in all aspects of life and faith.
The church is led by dedicated individuals. Gary Grut is the Senior Pastor. He has a background in sport corporate and ministry work. Shannan Mackie is the Associate Pastor. He oversees ministries for all ages. Simon Mahoney is the Youth Pastor. Chloe Coleman leads the Children’s Ministry. Sandra Alpe serves as Worship Curator. Judy Attwood is the Administrator. Lily Melville leads Intermediate Ministries. Sabrina David coordinates Youth Ministry.
Glen Eden Baptist Church also has a team of elders. These include Barry Sluiters Paul Baird Elschen Frankenfeld Mitchell Allen and Greg Palmer.
Glen Eden Baptist Church is closely linked with Visionwest. Visionwest aims to end homelessness. It wants to reduce poverty. It supports the elderly. It gives young people hope. Visionwest Community Trust is located at Glen Eden Baptist Church. Together they meet community needs. Their mission is building hope. Their vision is transformed lives and healthy communities.
Mission is a core value at Glen Eden Baptist Church. They support overseas cross-cultural missions. They have a group called Goers and Senders. It meets monthly to pray for missionaries. Peter and Leonora serve in South Asia. They help people in red-light districts. They established a business to employ vulnerable women. The church also sends short-term teams to places like Fiji and India.
Te Kapu is a free weekly community lunch. It is held every Wednesday. Glen Eden Baptist Church and Visionwest jointly staff and fund it. Anyone can come.
