“Returning to nature and enjoying art” is the concept that defines Yuehu Lake. Here at Yuehu Lake Sculpture Park, we see modern sculptures nestled amidst natural scenery. This creates a unique landscape that blends art and nature.
Yuehu Lake spans 31 hectares. It is the heart of a park that covers 100 hectares. Around the lake, you will discover distinct zones. These are the Spring Shore, Summer Shore, Autumn Shore, and Winter Shore. Each offers unique landscaping and architectural styles.
Let us begin with Summer Shore. It boasts a beach and a paddling pool. You will also see climbing nets and small trains. A cruise ship wharf and Boulder Forest Square add to the recreational fun.
More than 80 outdoor sculptures dot the landscape around Yuehu Lake. These pieces were created by contemporary artists from over 20 countries. They integrate seamlessly with the mountains and artistic landscapes. This creates an enriching visual experience.
The megalithic structure is a sight. It consists of 26 granite boulders. These massive stones were individually built. Three ring-shaped stone circles form the structure’s primary body. Each of the four core stones stands 12 meters tall. Each weighs over 100 tons.
In the Spring Scenic Section you can feel spring in the air. Here the tourist service center, Water Stage, and Crystal Palace highlight recreational facilities. A view-watching platform is also available.
Summer Scenic Section features a man-made beach. It is made of 5,000 tons of sand. Banyan trees line this section. The trees offer the best views of the park.
The Autumn Scenic Section gives a sense of harvest. Bridal Veil Hall and Autumn Moon Archway highlight it. You will experience an aesthetic sense of nature here.
The Winter Scenic Section offers another form of beauty. More than 20 modern sculptures are distributed throughout. These include stone, porcelain, and bronze sculptures. Plum blossoms bloom in winter. They add luster to the park.
For those seeking refreshment, several restaurants and bars are located in the park. Qing Yue Fang Restaurant and Autumn Coffee Shop are among the choices. You might even catch an art show at the Moon Lake Art Gallery.
Shanghai Yuehu Sculpture Park reopened to the public on June 1. It is operating at 50 percent capacity. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. The park offers free entry for children under 14 until September 1.
As we conclude our walk around Yuehu Lake, remember the park’s slogan. It encourages us to embrace nature and appreciate art. Here, amidst sculptures and serene landscapes, the two blend beautifully. Take with you this sense of harmony.
