Originally a simple Surau Panggung a raised prayer hall it was built in the 1920s by H Muhammad bin H Mugheni. He constructed it on land belonging to Hj Mudjenah. Imagine the simple structure amidst the growing city. It served as a focal point for prayer and community gatherings.
In July 1968 a decision was made. The Surau Panggung was to be relocated. The small mosque was moved forward to its present location. More importantly it received a new name Mushola Al-Amin. This relocation and renaming represented a significant step in the mosque’s evolution. The new structure was built on wakaf land a generous donation of 258 square meters from H Asnawi bin H Thamrin.
The foundation stone for the new Mushola Al-Amin was laid on August 2 1968. Prominent figures were present including religious leaders and local officials. They blessed the new building. The Mushola Al-Amin was completed in December 1968. It immediately began serving its purpose as a place of worship.
After 26 years a major renovation transformed the Mushola Al-Amin. The year was 1995. A total overhaul modernized the mosque. The expansion continued in 2012 with the addition of a pendopo an open-sided pavilion at the front. This allowed for more space for community gatherings.
