To reach this secluded haven, we’ll take the Kauri Point Domain Path. The path starts at the end of Balmain Road in Chatswood. It’s an easy walk down to Fitzpatrick Bay. The wide gravel path has a gentle slope perfect for prams or wheelchairs.
As we walk, notice the coastal bush featuring kauri trees. Please be aware that some areas near the path are closed. This closure helps prevent the spread of kauri dieback. Let’s protect our kauri trees.
The Kauri Point Domain Path offers great views over the Upper Waitematā Harbour. Keep an eye out for small side tracks. These trails lead into the pine trees and mangroves.
After a short walk of about 20 minutes or 1.3 km, we arrive at Fitzpatrick Bay beach. This small sandy bay is framed by cliffs and coastal forest. There is a large grassed area near Fitzpatrick Bay beach. It’s a perfect spot for a picnic lunch after a swim. Remember that swimming is best at high tide.
