Nestled in Munich’s Forstenried district, Bad Forstenrieder Park, affectionately known as Stäblibad, has been a beloved community hub since 1976. Generations of children in southern Munich learned to swim here. Seniors gather for water aerobics. Sport clubs train in its pools. The sauna area offers a welcome escape for those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Bad Forstenrieder Park isn’t just a place for exercise. It’s a place where memories are made. Imagine families splashing in the parent-child area. Athletes powering through laps in the 25-meter sports pool. Grandparents enjoying their weekly water gymnastics. The echoes of laughter and splashing water fill the air. Bad Forstenrieder Park caters to everyone. From the youngest learners earning their “Seepferdchen” swimming certificates to seasoned swimmers honing their skills, everyone finds their place here. Beyond the pools, the sauna landscape beckons with a dry sauna, steam bath, and refreshing plunge pools. The outdoor area offers a tranquil space for rest and recovery. A special treat awaits on Wednesdays. From 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, the sauna becomes a women-only haven. Bad Forstenrieder Park offers a blend of activity and tranquility. It’s a place to invigorate the body and soothe the soul. Sadly, time and use have taken their toll on the building. Structural issues emerged, leading to temporary closures for revisions. The Stadtwerke München (SWM), recognizing the importance of this cherished institution, made a bold decision. They chose to demolish and rebuild Bad Forstenrieder Park entirely. This ambitious project, slated for completion in 2027, aims to preserve the legacy of Stäblibad while creating a modern, state-of-the-art facility for future generations. Until then, the staff will continue their work at other SWM-operated pools. The spirit of Bad Forstenrieder Park lives on.
