In 1981, a new chapter unfolded in the story of Bloom Township. The bustling heart of the community found its new home at 425 South Halsted Street – the Bloom Township Hall. This wasn’t just a new building. It symbolized the growth and progress of a township deeply rooted in history. Bloom Township’s story began much earlier, in 1849. It was one of the original 25 townships in Cook County, its name a tribute to a German patriot. Before the arrival of European settlers, the Potawatomi and Sauk tribes traversed this land, using the Sauk Trail for trade and migration. This very trail later played a vital role in the Underground Railroad, offering a beacon of hope to those seeking freedom in the north. Bloom Township saw a surge of growth in the late 19th century as manufacturing boomed. The echoes of industry attracted waves of immigrants, shaping the cultural tapestry of the township. Through the years, Bloom Township Hall has stood as a testament to this rich heritage. Within its walls, the township continues its mission to serve its diverse population, upholding the values of community and progress that have defined Bloom Township for over a century.
