This impressive science center attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors yearly. In its first seven years alone over 3.4 million people visited. The Universum expanded in 2007. A new outdoor area called the EntdeckerPark was added. It features hands-on exhibits and a 27-meter-high tower. A cubic rust-red building called the SchauBox was also added. It hosts temporary exhibitions. These change annually.
The Universum’s permanent exhibition underwent a major renovation in 2014. The result is a completely new visitor experience. The original expeditions were replaced by three new topic levels: Technology Mankind and Nature. Multimedia exhibits and detailed texts give visitors an up-to-date look at research. Even the smallest visitors are catered for. The Milky Way children’s area provides interactive fun.
In 2013 the city of Bremen took over the Universum. It’s now run by the Universum Managementges mbH. This science center is more than a building.
