Why do you think they chose the name “Saint Beatrice” for this church? We are standing in front of Saint Beatrice Church. It might surprise you to know that this church has a fascinating history tied to the name it bears. Saint Beatrice Church wasn’t always located in this grand structure. It began humbly in 1926 as a mission church in Bensenville. As the congregation grew, a new parish was established here in Schiller Park just three years later. A local family suggested the name “Saint Beatrice,” inspired by a courageous third-century saint. The first baptism at Saint Beatrice Church was a momentous occasion, celebrated on May 2, 1926. The church we see today, dedicated in 1957 by Cardinal Samuel Stritch, stands as a testament to the community’s growth and the enduring spirit of faith. It’s a place where history and faith intertwine, a beacon in the heart of Schiller Park.
