The Hueso auxiliar Sculpture is part of the Public Art Circuit, MALBA Puertos in Escobar. It was commissioned by Consultatio. Nicolas Panasiuk produced it. The Hueso auxiliar Sculpture, created between 2022 and 2024, is made of resin and marble powder. It measures 2.2 x 1.8 x 0.8 meters.
The French naturalist George Cuvier inspires the Hueso auxiliar Sculpture. Cuvier could reconstruct an animal’s body from a small bone. The sculpture’s form and porosity evoke a fossil. Like a fossil, it invites a detective-like investigation into its origins. What is behind the initial mark? How and why did it originate?
The artist started by squeezing clay with her hand to create an organic form. She then processed it through 3D printing. This transformed its scale dissociating the initial gesture from the result. The falanges and metacarpals of the right hand are still visible in the final sculpture. These are the traces of the hand that pressed on the material. If we look closely, we might even find the fingerprints.
