A century’s worth of tea whispers from these walls. Welcome to the Teehaus Teekanne in Radebeul a place steeped in history. This unassuming building holds a secret. It’s the legacy of the famous Teekanne company. It started in Dresden in 1882. R Seelig & Hille opened a shop selling teas and other goods from Japan and China. They secured the Teekanne trademark in 1888. It’s one of Germany’s oldest trademarks.

The original Dresden location thrived. Ernst Rudolf Anders and Eugen Nissle bought the business in 1892. They pioneered pre-mixed and packaged tea a revolution in the industry. Their success led to the creation of the iconic Teekanne brand. A composer even wrote a song for the company. Imagine the melodies drifting through the air of old Dresden.

World War II brought devastating destruction. The Dresden headquarters suffered severe damage in 1945. After the war the company was expropriated. It was moved to Radebeul. It merged with the Otto E Weber GmbH. This formed the VEB Kaffee-Weber-Teekanne. The company was later renamed VEB Kaffee und Tee Radebeul.

This building you see before you is part of that legacy. It continued production. After German reunification the factory was privatized. Teekanne reacquired it in 1991. The Teehaus GmbH became a part of the Teekanne group. The building remains a testament to the enduring spirit of this tea empire. The aroma of countless tea bags once filled the air here. It’s a tangible link to a century of tea blending and innovation.

Think of the countless tea bags produced within these walls. Over a billion double-chamber tea bags have been made here. They represent a constant pursuit of excellence. The blend of herbs and fruits black tea and green tea reflects Teekanne’s dedication to quality. This modest building in Radebeul represents a powerful story of resilience and growth. It’s more than just a factory. It is a living archive of tea’s rich history. The Teehaus Teekanne stands as a symbol of a journey spanning generations. It’s a story brewed to perfection.
