The Modellbaupark Auenhain sits nestled in the Leipziger Neuseenland recreation area. It spans approximately 10,000 square meters. Here, children’s eyes aren’t the only ones that light up. Numerous attractions await discovery. Visitors can experience them firsthand.

Imagine lovingly recreated locomotives. These are built to a 1:8 scale. They operate on tracks with a gauge of 5 or 7 1/4 inches. That converts to 12.7 or 18.415 centimeters. Both kids and adults can ride these miniature trains. Enjoy a romantic ride through the park.

Miniature diesel locomotives regularly pull the trains from Wednesday to Sunday. A custom-built tram also operates. Various real steam locomotives run on weekends and holidays. Departure times depend on demand. Special trips for families and company outings are available upon request. There is plenty of space for children’s birthday parties and picnics.

The Modellbaupark Auenhain also features a 14-meter-long H0 scale model railway. Soon, it will be housed in a former Reichsbahn baggage car. This is definitely worth a look.

Let’s talk prices. From Wednesday to Friday, adult tickets cost 5 euros. Children’s tickets are 3 euros. A family ticket costs 17 euros. It covers two adults and up to four children. On weekends and holidays, adult tickets are 7 euros. Children’s tickets are 4 euros. The family ticket is 22 euros. The entrance fee includes one train ride. Additional rides cost 1 euro each.

Frequent riders can purchase a special card. For an extra 5 euros per person, you can ride as much as you want. Annual passes are also available. An adult pass costs 35 euros. A child’s pass is 22 euros. The Modellbaupark Auenhain is located at Am Silberschacht 5 in Markkleeberg. You can reach them by phone. The number is 01523/1802801.

Originally, the Modellbaupark Auenhain covered 6,000 square meters. You can find railway technology and trains here. It is open from April to October. From Wednesday to Thursday, it is open from 1 PM to 6 PM. From Friday to Sunday, it is open from 10 AM to 6 PM. On public holidays and during Saxon school vacations, it is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Normal admission is 3 euros on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when the steam train is running the normal fee for adults is 3 euros. The children’s fee for 3-13 year olds is 3 euros.
