Over a century ago, a spiritual fire ignited in Dallas, a fire that continues to burn brightly today at Dallas First Assembly of God. Dallas First Assembly of God traces its roots back to the heart of the Pentecostal movement. In 1910, a young evangelist named Fred F. Bosworth, fresh from the fervor of the Azusa Street Revival, arrived in Dallas. He brought with him the fledgling Pentecostal message, a message of spiritual renewal and empowerment. Bosworth, along with his associate Elias G. Birdsall, established the “Pentecostal Tabernacle.” This humble beginning would become the foundation for Dallas First Assembly of God.

The church’s early years were marked by passionate revival meetings, a hallmark of the Pentecostal movement. One such meeting, led by the renowned evangelist Maria B. Woodworth-Etter in 1912, proved particularly significant. Her powerful preaching drew huge crowds, sparking a spiritual awakening in Dallas. It was a time of profound religious experiences: salvations, healings, and miracles were reported. This period cemented Dallas First Assembly of God’s place as a center of Pentecostal revival in Texas. In 1914, representatives from the Dallas church travelled to Hot Springs, Arkansas to participate in a landmark event: the formation of the Assemblies of God. This gathering marked the official establishment of the Assemblies of God, with Dallas First Assembly of God as a founding member.
