How fitting that Lodge Farm Park is built on what was once farmland. This peaceful oasis, nestled just outside Romford town center, sprawls across 12 acres of gentle hills and a meandering brook. Lodge Farm Park wasn’t always a place for leisurely strolls and picnics. Acquired by the council in 1927, it initially served as a rather unglamorous rubbish tip! It wasn’t until 1963 that Lodge Farm Park, envisioned as part of a “Green Lung” stretching across the borough, was finally unveiled to the public. Today, Lodge Farm Park is a hub of activity. The park boasts two tennis courts, a well-used bowling green, and a sprawling children’s play area. But perhaps the most unique feature is the 7 1/4-inch gauge miniature railway, lovingly operated by the Havering Miniature Railway Club. This 2,500-foot loop chugs around the park, offering a charming journey through this green haven.
