Established in September 2007 Southwark Inclusive Learning Service SILS offers full-time education. It’s a lifeline for permanently and dually registered Key Stage 3 pupils. It also helps permanently excluded Key Stage 4 students. SILS provides more than just classes.

The ultimate goal is successful reintegration into mainstream education.
The SILS Key Stage 3 centre aims to reignite a love for learning. They use positive behaviour and restorative approaches. Multi-agency and therapeutic interventions address additional needs. Robust outreach support helps students who return to mainstream schools. Even students on fixed-term exclusions for over six days receive ‘Day-Six’ provision.
The Key Stage 4 centre at SILS is equally impressive. It helps young people create meaningful learning plans. These plans offer pathways to post-16 provision. Individualized packages balance time at SILS 4 with other providers. Southwark College and Street Vibes a music-based provision are partners. Work-related learning is emphasized. Intensive careers advice and guidance are provided in collaboration with Connexions. SILS works closely with the youth offending service CAMHS and Children’s Social Care.
SILS also houses the Young Parents Education Centre YPEC. YPEC supports young parents and expectant mothers aged 14 to 19. It offers qualifications that pave the way for further education. Students learn essential parenting skills. Post-16 students access courses at Southwark College. These include functional skills qualifications parenting courses and career guidance. Enrichment activities help ensure students are on a path to education employment and training.
