Finally, thanks to the combined efforts of the community and organizations like the Heritage Lottery Fund, a remarkable transformation took place. In 2012, Wandle Park was reborn. The river, once entombed, was brought back to the surface, its waters now flowing freely through the revitalized park. The project wasn’t just about restoring a waterway. It breathed new life into the entire park. The neglected Victorian features were restored to their former glory. A new play area, designed with input from local children, became a hub of laughter and activity. The old pavilion was transformed, now offering a café and improved facilities.
