Once a simple prayer room the Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlash has transformed. It stands as a testament to community spirit. Let’s uncover its story together.

In 1967, local leaders from Cipete envisioned a central mosque. They hoped it could be a hub for Islamic teachings. These pioneers went door to door. Their goal was to gather support for their noble cause. H.D. Dachlan remembered those tireless efforts. H.MA. Husein recalled the idea sparked during Tarawih prayers held in different homes.

Nine years later, their vision materialized. The first stone of what would become Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlash was laid. Construction spanned from 1976 to 1979. Generous donations from the community made it possible. Buya H. Amirudin Siregar led the project from 1975 to 1987.

Thirty-five founders established the Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas. Their names are recorded in the YMAI’s founding documents. These included Tuan Haji Ibrahim and Nyonya Soengkono.

Officially, the Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas was founded on April 11, 1967. The foundation is located on Jl. Cipete 3 No. 3.

Today, Masjid Al-Ikhlas is a spacious two-story building. It can accommodate 1,500 worshippers. The ground floor serves as a multi-purpose hall. It hosts various community and educational activities. The main prayer hall is located on the second floor. Expansive areas on the south and east sides provide additional space. These are also used for community events.

Adjacent to the mosque, there are educational buildings. The KB/TK Islam Al Ikhlas kindergarten is on the east side. The SD and SMP Islam Al Ikhlas elementary and middle schools are on the west. Additionally, a shop under the Koperasi Syariah Ikhlas Sejahtera provides essential supplies. These include groceries and school uniforms.

The Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Al Ikhlas, or TK Islam Al Ikhlas, is part of the Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas. As Cipete grew, so did the mosque’s congregation. The community worked together to enlarge the mosque. Eventually, they received help from the Governor of Jakarta. This led to a major renovation to establish Al Ikhlas as a Jami Mosque. Prof. Dr. Hamka, a respected scholar, laid the cornerstone.

In 1979, the YMAI expanded its educational efforts. They established the TK Islam Al Ikhlas. Ibu Hj. Hartini was appointed as the headmistress. Classes were initially held on the ground floor of Masjid Al Ikhlas.

The Masjid Jami Al-Ikhlash continues its legacy. It is transforming to serve its community better. This transformation includes improvements to facilities and activities. The goal is to create a welcoming space. Here, the community can thrive through faith and fellowship.
