“An Everlasting Legacy.” Greater Love Chapel Church of God in Christ has a history as captivating as its name. Founded in 1910 by Elder J. Austin Love, this church witnessed the dedication of its congregation from the very beginning. Back then, it was located on White Street, in what is now known as Est Rosedale. Did you know the church’s name doesn’t actually honor Elder Love? It’s called Love Chapel because of the immense love its members demonstrated! The first sanctuary was built with the collective effort of the community, a testament to their faith and love for their place of worship. Over the decades, Greater Love Chapel Church of God in Christ has seen several pastors, each leaving their mark on the church’s story. Elder Love served until 1933, followed by Elder E.E. Hamilton who led the congregation until 1938. Then came Elder S.D. Lee from 1939 to 1966, shaping the church’s identity over nearly three decades. The church’s story is a tapestry woven with threads of faith, dedication, and growth.
