“A church born from conflict.” GBI Filadelfia in Jakarta stands as a testament to faith’s resilience. GBI Filadelfia’s story isn’t one of simple beginnings. It’s a story of a congregation, once part of GPdI El-Shaddai in Ternate, finding a new home amidst internal disputes. The disagreements, simmering since 2012, escalated dramatically. A split formed within the El-Shaddai congregation, with a prayer group challenging the leadership of Pastor Ruddy Kila. Mediation attempts failed. The conflict deepened, leading to accusations, investigations, and ultimately, a court case. The court’s decision did not resolve the underlying issues. It left Pastor Kila and his followers with a difficult choice. In 2019, they made the painful decision to leave GPdI and establish a new identity: GBI Filadelfia. They sought a place where their faith could flourish, free from the shadows of conflict. This transition wasn’t easy. It was a moment of profound sadness and uncertainty. Yet, from this struggle, GBI Filadelfia emerged. The church stands as a symbol of hope and new beginnings, a reminder that faith can persevere even in the face of adversity. Their story is a powerful reminder that even within division, faith can find a way to rebuild and renew.
