Stepping into the future, we arrive at CT-2 – Expansão do Centro de Tecnologia. This building represents more than just steel and concrete. It embodies the ever-evolving spirit of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). CT-2 is part of the larger Centro de Tecnologia (CT), a hub of innovation and learning within the university. The CT houses two prestigious institutions: the Escola Politécnica and the Escola de Química. The Escola Politécnica, or “Poli” as it’s affectionately known, occupies various blocks within the CT, including blocks A, C, D, F, G, H and I. The Escola de Química focuses its activities in Block E. CT-2 – Expansão do Centro de Tecnologia helps accommodate the growing number of students. The CT as a whole boasts an impressive student body. It has 6,400 undergraduate students and 4,500 post-graduate students. This bustling center of knowledge also supports 500 professors and 600 technical and administrative staff. The CT isn’t just about classrooms and labs. It’s home to supplementary bodies like the renowned COPPE (Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering). It also houses the IMA (Institute of Macromolecules) and NIDES (Interdisciplinary Nucleus for Social Development). CT-2 plays a crucial role in facilitating the continued growth and impact of these important institutions. Its modern facilities provide much-needed space for research, collaboration, and the development of future generations of engineers and scientists.
