Tucked away in Chicago, Nottingham Park isn’t just a patch of green. It’s a place with a dual identity. Nottingham Park is both a small community park nestled within the city and an unincorporated community in Cook County. Our Nottingham Park, the one with the benches and water fountain, sits at 7101 W. 63rd St. It’s a quiet spot, just 0.65 acres. Perfect for a moment of peace in the bustling city. But the larger Nottingham Park community stretches between Harlem Avenue and Sayre Avenue, from 71st to 75th Streets. It’s often mistaken for part of Chicago because they share a zip code. But mailing an invitation? You’ll want to address it to “Nottingham Park” or “Stickney Township”. Nottingham Park sits near Burbank, Bedford Park, and Bridgeview. The community actually takes its name from our little green space. The Chicago Park District acquired the land for Nottingham Park in 1998. The Clearing Civic League suggested the name, since Nottingham Street borders the park’s east side. It officially became Nottingham Park in 2001. So next time you’re seeking a quiet escape, remember Nottingham Park. It’s more than just a park; it’s a small community with a story to tell.
