Masjid Darul Ma’arif

Beneath the tropical Jakarta sun stands Masjid Darul Ma’arif, a beacon of knowledge and community. Masjid Darul Ma’arif translates to “House of Knowledge”. This name reflects its purpose. It’s not merely a place for ritual prayer. The mosque also serves as a center for learning, focusing on social and community issues. Masjid Darul Ma’arif was officially inaugurated on December 22, 1985. It’s located in Blok K3 Phase 1 kav. DKI Kelurahan Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta. The mosque founders envisioned a space that fosters both spiritual growth and social understanding. They sought to engage not only adults but also the younger generation. Shortly after its inauguration, an organization called Remaja Islam Darul Ma’arif (RISDAM) was formed. RISDAM aims to involve young people in positive activities, promoting leadership and a sense of responsibility. Masjid Darul Ma’arif actively encourages the participation of young people. They see them as the future leaders of the community. The mosque provides a platform for learning, growth, and positive engagement. RISDAM embodies three core principles: youth, Islam, and knowledge (‘Ma’arif’). These elements are intertwined and inseparable. Youth represents dynamism and adaptability to change. Islam provides a framework of values for navigating those changes. Ma’arif emphasizes the continuous pursuit of knowledge for the benefit of oneself and the community. RISDAM members learn valuable skills in organization and community involvement. They participate in various activities. These range from organizing Ramadan events, Zakat Fitrah, Eid al-Fitr, and Qurban, to other important Islamic holidays. Masjid Darul Ma’arif and RISDAM work together to create a space for holistic development. They aim to build a strong community grounded in faith, knowledge, and social responsibility.
