Twenty people gathered in a living room in 1986. That was the humble beginning of New Life In Christ Bible Church. This small group led by the then twenty-one-year-old Mark Jobe would grow beyond all expectations. New Life In Christ Bible Church isn’t just a building it’s a testament to faith and community.
From those initial twenty members the church expanded rapidly. It moved from a living room to Davis School. Then it multiplied into three small groups demonstrating its vibrant growth. The church’s commitment to prayer and fasting is evident in its history. They consecrated their first forty days of prayer and fasting in 1994. This dedication laid the groundwork for the church’s future expansion.
The year 1996 saw Pastor Mark praying for one percent of Chicago’s population that’s thirty thousand people. This ambitious prayer reflects the church’s broad vision. A Spanish service started in the band room of Curie High School highlighting the church’s commitment to inclusivity. New Life In Christ Bible Church broke the one thousand weekly attendance mark in 1998. It also opened a South location in Oak Lawn showcasing their expanding reach.
The church’s growth continued. In 2000 it spearheaded a church restart transforming Galilee Baptist Church into New Life Lakeview. In 2005 New Life Centers formed to meet the community’s social needs. New Life In Christ Bible Church’s impact extends beyond spiritual guidance. It also addresses the practical needs of its community members.
The church’s 2020 vision outlined ambitious goals. These included planting forty new locations mentoring one thousand next-generation leaders. The vision extended internationally aiming to plant churches in ten global cities. The development of one hundred kingdom resources was another significant goal.
