The Mosquée Al Ihsan, a grand and modern mosque, stands before you. It is a sight to behold, a testament to the vibrant Muslim community in Argenteuil. This mosque, also affectionately known as the Mosquée Renault, has a fascinating story behind its creation.

The Mosquée Al Ihsan was once a Renault garage. In 1999, the Al-Ihsan Muslim association purchased the building, converting it into a place of worship. It wasn’t an easy transformation – construction began in 2001 and was not completed until 2010.

However, the end result is truly impressive. It now boasts two prayer halls – one for women and one for men – with a capacity of 2,300 people. This makes it one of the largest mosques in all of France. The building is adorned with a magnificent, ochre dome and a 15-meter-tall minaret. It also features a library, classrooms, and a cultural center where children and adults alike can study Arabic and Islam.

The inauguration of the Mosquée Al Ihsan in 2010 was an important event attended by the then-Prime Minister, François Fillon.

The mosque has become a vital hub for the Argenteuil community, serving not only as a place of worship but also a place for fostering understanding and promoting community values. It is a testament to the resilience, faith, and dedication of the local Muslim community who built this magnificent structure.
