In 1913, a vision took root here in Bonn. Wilhelm Stollfuß, a man with an eye for exploration, founded Stollfuß Medien. Initially, it wasn’t tax law that filled its pages, but the allure of travel. Stollfuß began his venture publishing guides and maps, charting paths through picturesque landscapes. Yet, the winds of change were blowing. By 1923, Stollfuß Medien began publishing tax tables and guides, navigating the complexities of tax declarations. This shift marked a turning point. Under the leadership of Erich Stollfuß, son of the founder, the company embraced this new direction. The post-war era, with Bonn as the capital of West Germany, proved a fertile ground for Stollfuß Medien’s growth. The company even acquired the Bonner Universitäts-Druckerei in the 1950s, further solidifying its presence. The legacy continued. In 1974, Wolfgang and Michael Stollfuß, grandsons of the founder, took the helm. They steered Stollfuß Medien towards becoming a specialized publisher in tax and business law. Travel guides became a thing of the past, replaced by in-depth legal texts. The Stollfuß brothers didn’t stop there. They recognized the potential of technology. They created dataprint, a service provider for publishing software. In 1997, they launched Stotax GmbH & Co. KG, a provider of tax consulting software. Then, in 2008, the various branches converged under the umbrella of Stollfuß Medien GmbH & Co. KG. Even in recent times, Stollfuß Medien has continued to evolve. In 2021, the French publishing group Éditions Lefebvre Sarrut (ELS) expressed its intention to acquire significant assets of Stollfuß Medien. This move signaled the company’s enduring relevance in the world of tax and business law. So, as you stand before Stollfuß Medien today, remember its journey. From travel guides to complex legal texts and cutting-edge software, Stollfuß Medien has remained a steadfast presence in Bonn, a testament to the enduring power of adaptation and innovation.
