Curiosity tugged at Sarah as she gazed at the IALFM Mosque. Its modern architecture stood in stark contrast to the surrounding Texan landscape. The Islamic Association of Lewisville-Flower Mound (IALFM) Mosque, nestled near Flower Mound High School, held a story waiting to be unveiled. The IALFM Mosque serves the communities of Flower Mound, Lewisville, Highland Village, Double Oak, Lantana, Lake Dallas, and Grapevine. Just a short drive from the Dallas Fort Worth Airport, this mosque plays a vital role in the local Muslim community. In 2021, the IALFM Mosque community celebrated a significant milestone. The construction of their new mosque building was completed. This marked the culmination of years of planning and fundraising. The new 15,000-square-foot building replaced the older structure. It provides ample space for prayer, educational programs, and community gatherings. The IALFM Mosque’s journey to its new home began much earlier. In 2018, the first two phases of the project were finalized. These phases included the foundation of the building and a much-needed parking lot expansion. This expansion added 93 parking spaces, easing congestion during Friday prayers and major events. The final phase, completed in 2021, brought the total project cost to $3.3 million. Impressively, all loans have been paid off. The IALFM Mosque now stands debt-free, a testament to the community’s dedication and generosity. The IALFM Mosque is more than just a building. It is a vibrant hub. It offers a range of services, including Sunday School for children, Quranic studies, and community outreach programs. The IALFM Mosque’s commitment to education and community service reflects its core values. It strives to foster a sense of belonging and understanding among its members and the wider community.
