Perpustakaan Universitas Nasional

In 1970, a seed of knowledge was planted. Right here, the Perpustakaan Universitas Nasional began its life. It started small, nestled within a modest 20 square meter space on Jl.Kalilio. Imagine, just 2915 books, theses, and periodicals forming the core of what would become a vital resource for Universitas Nasional. The Perpustakaan Universitas Nasional wasn’t always the modern facility you see today. By 1973, the collection grew to 13,000 items, demanding an expansion. Then, in 1978, a branch dedicated to biology sprouted in Ragunan. This branch eventually rejoined the main Perpustakaan Universitas Nasional in 1983. The university itself relocated to Pejaten, Pasar Minggu. The library found a new home, a larger space of 499 square meters on the first floor of Block III. The Perpustakaan Universitas Nasional continued to evolve. It embraced the digital age in 2001. It moved to a new southern building on the second floor, boasting 752 square meters. This space offered a soundproof, air-conditioned environment. It transitioned to digital systems for both processing and services. Today, the Perpustakaan Universitas Nasional is staffed by 17 dedicated individuals. Ten of these staff members are trained librarians, graduates of Library Science. They strive to maximize services through library automation and open access. They also look forward to a future virtual library.
