Majestic and tall. That’s Changshou Temple. For more than 800 years this temple has seen splendor and change. Changshou Temple is one of Shanghai’s eight famous temples. It offers a less crowded and more personal experience.

Changshou Temple was first built during the Southern Song Dynasty around 1165-1173. In 2010, Master Yaowei, the abbot of Changshou Temple, revived the ancient temple. He rebuilt it on the site of the East Temple in Duxing Old Street. He renamed it Changshou Zen Temple.

The temple might not cover a large area. Yet the buildings inside are tall. This gives a solemn and majestic feeling. Changshou Temple features several halls. Among them are the Mahavira Hall and the God of Wealth Hall. There are three-story buildings with flying eaves on both the east and west sides. These are perfect for taking photos.

Besides the Buddha statues, the koi fish in the pond are important too. Many people come to Changshou Zen Temple to pray for blessings. Some visitors say it is really effective.

Changshou Temple stands as a testament to history. It is a place of peace and reflection. Whether you seek blessings, admire architecture, or find a quiet escape, Changshou Temple welcomes you. Remember its story. Remember its resilience. Let’s carry its spirit of peace and longevity in our hearts.
