The Acton Hill Methodist Church building dates back to 1907. Gordon and Gunton designed it. Its free Gothic style features rubble walls. A tower stands at the northeast angle. The north end of the nave has a double window. Below it sits a triple window. A low entrance porch is to the right. There is also an entrance under the tower.
Inside, the church has six bays and an apse. Four west bays feature a gallery on three sides. It sits partly in an arched recess. Side chapels are in the two east bays. They have a two bay arcade in Decorated Gothic style. An octagonal pier stands between them. The east apse has a large moulded arch. This arch contains the organ. The roof is timber. The southeast chapel includes a traceried timber screen. Nave windows have art nouveau Gothic leaded lights.
Acton Hill Church is Grade II listed. This recognizes its special architectural and historic interest.
Music fills Acton Hill Church. The Robed Choir is a vital part of the worship. They sing every third Sunday. The choir practices after coffee on Sundays. They perform music from the church’s great heritage. Pieces by Bach, Mozart and others have been sung. New singers are welcome. The choir teaches music reading.
