Is this the place where faith found a new home? Right here, before the contemporary facade of the Templestowe Baptist Church, a story of growth and change unfolds. Templestowe Baptist Church, as we know it today, took root in 1978. Back then, the burgeoning community of Templestowe caught the eye of the Blackburn North Baptist Church. They saw potential, a need for a spiritual haven, and purchased land in nearby East Doncaster. Picture a small group of families, their hearts brimming with faith, gathering for worship in the Onemda community facility. A year later, in 1979, their devotion led them to appoint their very first pastor, Graham Neilson. The church continued to flourish. By 1983, services moved to Milgate Primary School, a testament to their expanding congregation. They embarked on an ambitious project: the development of their East Doncaster land to house both a dedicated church building and a retirement village called Templestowe Orchards. The year 1988 marked a pivotal moment – the grand opening of both the new church and Templestowe Orchards. This marked a new chapter in the life of Templestowe Baptist Church, a testament to their commitment to their community. The years that followed saw their community grow even more diverse. In 1997, Templestowe Baptist Church embraced the multicultural tapestry of their community, establishing both Cantonese and Mandarin ministries. In a significant development in 2013, they made the decision to pass on the stewardship of Templestowe Orchards to Baptcare. This paved the way for the construction of a new, modern church building that stands before you today. This new chapter began in 2016, a modern echo of their enduring faith.
