“Founded in 1894.” That’s where the story of Novar Christian Fellowship begins. Novar Christian Fellowship stands here on Novar Road. It welcomes all who seek faith and fellowship.

Novar Christian Fellowship isn’t affiliated with any denomination. It maintains close links with other local churches. This fosters a spirit of unity within the broader Christian community. The Fellowship has occupied its current location for over 80 years.

Let’s journey back to the early days. In 1916, Novar Christian Fellowship held its first Sunday morning service. The Sunday School grew. The Infants met in the Hall. The Young Women’s Bible Class convened in a first-floor room. The main School gathered at Pope Street LCC School, now Wyborne.

Between the World Wars, Novar Christian Fellowship flourished. Sunday evenings saw such large crowds that the overflow was accommodated upstairs. The service was relayed from the Hall. Eventually, the evening service moved to the Co-operative Hall. The Sunday School also relocated there in the afternoons.

The need for a new building became clear. Negotiations began to purchase land on Avery Hill Road. The deal fell through due to price and position. This setback proved providential. A rocket struck almost that exact spot during the last War. God’s hand protected Novar Christian Fellowship.

More changes occurred in 1939. The Sunday School was evacuated. Young people were called up for service and scattered. Yet, the witness at the Hall continued despite very difficult circumstances. Though damaged, the premises were preserved by God’s mercy.

Since 1945, Novar Christian Fellowship has experienced both growth and challenges. Through it all, the church testifies to God’s blessing. He has remained faithful throughout the years. Today, Novar Christian Fellowship extends a warm invitation. All are welcome to attend services. Children are especially welcome at weekday or Sunday meetings.

Public meetings take place every Sunday. The morning service runs from 11:00 am to 12 noon. The evening service is from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Prayer meetings are held on Wednesdays. They begin at 7:45 pm and end at 8:45 pm. Novar Christian Fellowship also offers a crèche.

Novar Christian Fellowship provides several facilities. There are toilets, a kitchen, and disability access. The facilities include a hearing loop, wheelchair access, and handrails. Guide dogs are welcome. Large print literature is available. The church accommodates those with learning difficulties.

Local schools can arrange educational visits. Church leaders are available to explain their beliefs to students. If you wish to contact Novar Christian Fellowship, the phone number is 020 8333 7080. You can also visit their website. Novar Christian Fellowship continues to be a beacon of faith. Its history is a testament to resilience and God’s unwavering support.
