Initially known as Hiroshima City Sixth Junior High School, it found its first home in the building of Motokawa Elementary School. As the years passed, it moved to the old Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial School and finally, in 1951, found its permanent residence on the former Hiroshima Army Shooting Range.
