What kind of park helps athletes reach the Olympics? Right here, you’re standing in front of Gately Park. This isn’t just any park. Gately Park houses the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center. This world-class facility has made a real difference in the lives of young athletes. Before it opened in 2021, many had to train in school hallways or on subpar outdoor tracks. Gately Park changed everything. The center boasts a state-of-the-art, hydraulically banked 200-meter track, a first for the area. This impressive facility also includes eight sprint lanes, areas for long jump, triple jump, pole vault, high jump and discus. There’s even a scoreboard and seating for 3,500 spectators. But Gately Park’s impact goes beyond its impressive features. The center has helped nurture a thriving running culture. It’s become a training ground for Olympic hopefuls, two of whom, Tori Franklin and Shamier Little, even competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
