The Akatlar Kültür Merkezi first opened its doors under the management of Beltaş A.Ş. in 1997. Imagine the excitement as the first performances graced its stage and exhibitions filled its halls. For ten years, it thrived under their guidance, becoming a hub for artistic expression in Istanbul. Then, in 2007, management shifted to the Beşiktaş Municipality, marking a new chapter in the Akatlar Kültür Merkezi’s journey. The Akatlar Kültür Merkezi boasts a 346-seat performance hall, named after the renowned Turkish poet Melih Cevdet Anday. Picture yourself seated amongst the audience, captivated by a play, concert, or perhaps a traditional Turkish shadow puppet show. Beyond the stage, a spacious 550-square-meter exhibition hall invites you to explore a world of art and creativity. The Akatlar Kültür Merkezi also houses a cocktail lounge, a dance hall, and educational rooms. These spaces provide a platform for learning, socializing, and celebrating the arts. Over the years, the Akatlar Kültür Merkezi has hosted a variety of theatrical productions. Groups like Semaver Kumpanya, Tiyatro Alkış, Tiyatrokare, and Talimhane Tiyatrosu have all graced its stage, bringing stories to life and captivating audiences. The Akatlar Kültür Merkezi has also played host to the Beşiktaş Municipality’s “Tribute to Masters” events. These events honored legendary Turkish artists like Haldun Taner, Suna Pekuysal, Ergun Köknar, Münir Özkul, and Orhan Kemal.
