Tour Duo 1

Amidst the Parisian skyline, two elegant giants rise, the Tours Duo. These architectural marvels, designed by the renowned Jean Nouvel, redefine the city’s silhouette. The taller of the two, Tour Duo 1, reaches a height of 180 meters. This makes it the third tallest structure in Paris. Only the Eiffel Tower and the Tour Montparnasse surpass it. Tour Duo 1 stands proudly in the 13th arrondissement, a testament to modern architectural ingenuity. Completed in 2021, the Tours Duo project forms part of the Paris Rive Gauche development. This massive urban renewal project has transformed the southeastern part of Paris. The area, nestled between the railway lines of the Gare d’Austerlitz, the Seine River, and the périphérique, now boasts a modern and vibrant atmosphere. The gleaming glass facades of Tour Duo 1 reflect the bustling city life below, creating an ever-changing spectacle of light and shadow. Its unique “double skin” facade, comprised of reflective scales, mirrors the movement of cars and trains passing below. These scales are formed by two layers of glass, separated by a maintenance walkway. The ends of these glass sections are sealed with cantilevered glass panels. This intricate design element not only adds visual interest but also contributes to the building’s energy efficiency. Tour Duo 1 isn’t just a beautiful structure. It’s a functional and dynamic space housing primarily offices. It is also home to the headquarters of the banking group BPCE, accommodating approximately 6,300 employees. The building also features retail spaces, adding to the vibrant urban environment. Tour Duo 1’s existence is intertwined with its slightly shorter sibling, Tour Duo 2. Together, they create a captivating interplay of angles and reflections, adding a distinctive touch to the Parisian skyline.
